WHY FAIRFAX VA UNION?

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

As member-driven organizations, this partnership will facilitate and grow pathways and opportunities for player development and maintain and increase competitiveness at the elite levels. We aim to be a model program known nationally for developing players at all levels, creating a culture of inclusion, innovation, and excellence, and positively impacting our communities. The ability to provide a superior player experience at the elite level is our top priority and the purpose of this partnership

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

The ability to collaborate and provide professional-level coaching education will help strengthen the coaching staff. Coach representation from each club will be an asset to ensure seamless cohesion of the teams. With strong coaching strategies and continued staff development, the player experience will be the finest in the Northern Virginia area. These exclusive coaching opportunities will enable us to retain and attract highly qualified and diverse individuals.

ECONOMIES OF SCALE

The collaboration of three forward-thinking clubs to form this new union will allow us to leverage size and scope for sponsorships, facilities, and relationships with local government and communities. It will also provide resource sharing in some key areas of each club, including registration systems, uniform and equipment vendors, websites, etc.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

An additional benefit of the partnership is the potential to create resources to undertake projects in the future, ranging from the development of playing facilities, to providing more scholarships to give greater access to the game for our players, and hosting showcase tournament events

BEHIND THE LOGO

Fairfax Virginia soccer clubs unite to advance youth development and competition

Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC), McLean Youth Soccer (MYS), and Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS) are the founding clubs in launching a new club, Fairfax Virginia Union. The Union will be equally governed by each founding club.

Fairfax Virginia Union’s inaugural ECNL National League season will kick off for the 2024-2025 seasonal year for both boys' and girls' teams from U13 to U19. Fairfax BRAVE and Virginia Union will finish their spring seasons, including Nationals for the teams that qualify.

BRYC, MYS, and VYS all have a role to play in both the player and coach pathway for the Union. Each club will continue to independently operate all of their current programs, including recreational, travel (ECNL Regional League and NCSL), and adult. The continued success of each club will ensure a strong and growing pipeline of talented players in the years to come.

It is important to recognize that Northern Virginia has a rich history of success at all levels across many clubs. This union is just the beginning of further collaboration led by Fairfax Virginia Union to continue this history.

Fairfax VA Union, BRYC, MYS, and VYS clubs will all operate independently, with BRYC, MYS, and VYS maintaining all of their existing programming.
